The most economic and most gentle way of evaporating suspensions is the evaporation in falling film evaporators. Falling film evaporators operate based on minimum liquid contact and high velocities in the heating tubes. The product to be evaporated wets the internal walls of the heating tubes with a very thin film which - due to gravity and motive action of the vapor - flows downwards at a high speed. This considerably reduces the risk of foaming and incrustation; cleaning intervals are reduced; a higher final concentration can be achieved.
The following features of GEA Wiegand evaporation plants are particularly suited to meet the requirements of this task:
- Continuous operation
- Production of the concentrate in single pass operation
- Uniform treatment of the yeast suspension (small residence time range)
- High final concentration can be achieved thanks to thermolysis
- Low liquid content, no formation of foam
- Simple construction, no moving plant parts
- Easy operation
- CIP cleaning
