June 2006 – Due to the considerably increased demand for bioethanol the
second line of the bioethanol plant in Schwedt, Germany, for which GEA Wiegand
has delivered equipment, has now been commissioned. The commissioning of the
distillation part of the plant with a production capacity of 100000 tonnes of
bioethanol per year just took four days.
This was possible thanks to a cleverly thought-out computer process
simulation before the actual commissioning took place. Now that this second
line has been started-up more than 50 % of the alcohol produced in Germany
comes from GEA Wiegand plants. This performance is another impressive proof for
GEA Wiegand’s technologically leading position in the field of bioethanol
production.
