June 2004 - One of the markets leaders for starch and saccharification
products is building a new wheat starch factory in Russia. For the treatment of
the waste water from the wheat starch process, GEA Wiegand have once again
asserted themselves against strong international competitors and have obtained
the order for the evaporation plant. Based on the innovative low temperature
concept used for this plant, GEA Wiegand have offered an energy-optimised
process, by means of which, above all, long operating periods can be achieved.

The evaporation plant consists of a pre-evaporator heated by mechanical
vapour recompressor and finishers heated by dryer vapours. This evaporator
concept does not require any live steam, which leads to particularly favourable
operating costs. The current special design already provides all prerequisites
for future extension of the plant.
Separators by Westfalia Separator AG
and a dryer by Barr Rosin Ltd, both affiliated companies of the GEA group, have
been integrated in the overall plant.
