December 2003 – The engineering company based in Ettlingen once again held their ground against strong international competition and received a large order for several million Euros from a well-known company of the German Starch industry.
The plant consists of two pre-evaporators heated by mechanical vapour recompressor and a three-effect finisher heated by thermal vapour recompressor. The dimensions of this plant surpass those of all former systems by far. In view of the water evaporation rate of more than 150 t/hr, this evaporator is certainly one of the largest ever built world-wide.

The dimensions of the individual evaporators are not less impressive. Each pre-evaporator, for example, has a diameter of approx. 3.5 m, a height of 38 m and is equipped with thousands of meters of tubes which alone have a weight of approx. 70 tons.

The economic efficiency of the plant is ensured by the known GEA Wiegand energy optimization concept.
