September 2002 - GEA Wiegand extends the current field of activity of
thermal separation technology by membrane technology as additional strategic
target.
Membrane technology offers an "alternative concentration process" to
supplement evaporation technology.
The use of selective membranes and the integration of this process step
offers the following advantages to our customers:
+ recycling of recyclable material
+ prolongation of evaporator operating
periods
+ achievement of higher final concentrations
+ improvement of the
vapour condensate quality.
Our use of membrane technology will also be focussed on stand-alone
units.
In close cooperation with GEA Filtration, Hudson/USA and based on their technology and
references, GEA Wiegand will offer plants to the beverage, food and chemical
industries in Europe.
GEA Wiegand will be further supported by GEA Filtration,
Skanderborg/Denmark, who are mainly responsible for customers of the Dairy
Industry within the European business unit.
For tests, all necessary test facilities are available at the modern GEA
Wiegand R & D Center.
