2012-06 GEA Wiegand has received an order for the construction of a distillation plant for high quality alcohol to be used as basis material for the production of whiskey.

3D-layout of the plant
The plant is designed for a capacity of
25,000 l/alcohol per day. It consists of 3 separation columns, which are operated under different pressure conditions – from vacuum up to overpressure.
This design enables an energy transfer between columns. Compared with traditional distillation plants, the installation in this special design saves approx. 50 % of the inlet primary energy by maintaining a constant product quality.
The process-engineering concept of
GEA Wiegand has sustained international comparison in respect of cost effectiveness and ascertainable quality fidelity.
Decades of experience with the design and construction of plants, mainly in the food industries and especially in the drinking alcohol sector, insures the technical execution of the new concept in terms of construction and manufacturing.
