2010-02 – Mono sodium glutamate is used as a flavour enhancer, enhancing the taste of its own of meat and fish meals and is used above all in Asia for the production of finished products.
For the production of mono sodium glutamate, falling film evaporators with high capacities are used for concentration. Since in these plants the energy consumption represents the main part of the operating costs, an energy optimized design of these plants ranks first.
GEA Wiegand - one of the technology leaders in the field of energy-efficient evaporation plants - yet again was awarded the order by one of the world's most important producers for MSG to refurbish an evaporation plant of a renowned Japan competitor.
With 4000 reference plants GEA Wiegand disposes of long-term experiences all over the world in the construction of evaporators and thanks to their well-diversified know how in the complete evaporator technology they are able to perform refurbishments of the most different evaporator types.
Here, GEA Wiegand above all used mechanical vapour recompressors which can realize energy savings which are clearly above those of the competitors.
In traditional evaporators, the occurring vapour flow is condensed, its energy contents is thus lost to a large extent. The mechanical vapour recompression, however, allows the return of these energy flows into the process by compressing the vapour to a higher pressure and thus a higher energy contents.
With mechanical vapour recompression the consumption of primary energy is reduced which again represents a contribution to save our resources.
