May 2007 - Since the foundation of GEA Wiegand, intensive and continuous research and development has been an implicit field of activities of the company. As a matter of course, it is the company's interest to protect its know-how. As the core competence of GEA Wiegand lies with evaporation technology, the major part of tests is carried out in order to optimize these apparatuses.
An innovative short-path evaporator protected by a European and an American patent can operate - different from the thin-layer evaporators with rotating inserts - without any moving parts and without wiping system. Its design corresponds to that of the falling-film evaporator and it can be constructed at a much more favorable price which makes it interesting above all for larger flow rates.
