Dezember 1999 - 100,000 m heating tubes in total, approx. 60,000 m alone in
one falling film evaporator, are being assembled into the world-wide largest
GEA Wiegand falling film evaporation plant.
The plant consists of two
falling film pre-evaporators heated by mechanical vapour recompressor and one
falling film forced circulation finisher for the concentration of potato starch
effluent and process water to 50 % TS final concentration. The efficiency of
this plant is another remarkable feature. GEA Wiegand has succeeded in reducing
the heating steam consumption of the entire plant complex to 1 % related to the
evaporation rate.
