German waste disposal firm and GEA Wiegand have developed an alternative
solution
In Germany each year a good 700,000 tons cooling lubricant
emulsions arise. In the past, they were partially disposed of by acid and salt
splitting. But, as the working papers of the Federal Environmental Agency say,
this no longer corresponds to the state of the art especially due to the high
consumption of chemical agents, the production of large quantities of
organically charged sludge and salting of the water phase. For this reason a
large German waste disposal firm has erected a new type of evaporation plant.
Sludge containing oil must not be dumped on disposal sites any longer.
This is why a large German disposal firm decided to find an alternative
solution. The aim was to find a solution that ensured trouble-free and
environmentally friendly utilization of the good 95 % water portion.
Engineering company GEA Wiegand, which already had experience with this
type of project in the field of waste disposal, proved to be an interesting
partner.
The project started with the erection of a test plant as it
was not possible to precisely define the composition of the waste water
containing oil and grease
